MarketPlace

This page has been established by the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass as a place where previously-owned glass pieces may be advertised for sale. If you have a piece you want to sell, whose sale price is $1,000 or more, you can post a notice. You need not be a member of AACG to post on the site, and there is no charge for posting. The site is intended to serve a secondary market, not as a marketplace for artists. Galleries wishing to advertise secondary sales are welcome to post. At a minimum, the notice must include the name of the piece and the artist, dimensions of the piece, asking price, and a point of contact (telephone, fax, e-mail, or mail). Additional descriptive information, condition of the piece, and a photograph are highly desirable. Send the information you wish posted to the webmaster as e-mail at webmaster@contempglass.org, or by ordinary mail: Jon Liebman, 110 Whitehall Court, Urbana, IL 61801. Photographs as e-mail attachments in .jpg (preferred), .tif, or .psd format, or by ordinary mail for scanning. Mailed photographs will normally be in return mail in 72 hours.

Anyone seeking secondary-market pieces by a particular artist or of a particular type is also welcome to post here.

Potential buyers of advertised pieces or sellers of pieces being sought should contact the advertiser at the contact point given in the notice.

The AACG serves merely to provide a point of contact between buyer and seller, and posting on the site implies no recommendation or warranty of the seller, the buyer, or the piece.

Buyers and Sellers beware: The number of internet scams is growing rapidly. There are "sellers" who will provide you with detailed and authentic photographs of the piece they wish to sell, but which they do not own!! And there are "buyers" who want to have a third party send you a cashier's check for more than the amount of the purchase, with you forwarding the difference plus the piece; unfortunately, the check (even a "cashier's check") turns out to be bogus.

We have recently been provided with the e-mail correspondence from a probable scammer to a seller on this page, and this material is shown on the linked page. The correspondence was broken off following the last e-mail shown. This set of e-mails is provided as a single example, but please keep in mind that scams come in all sizes and shapes.

These scams need not prevent you from doing business on the internet, but they do make it important that you use caution and common sense in your transactions.
