Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass
Guidelines for Support Grant Applicants

The mission of the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG) is to further the development and appreciation of art made from glass. The AACG awards Support Grants consistent with this mission.

The AACG Grants Committee approves applications consistent with the AACG mission based upon merit. Grants are made to arts organizations in support of specific educational purposes. Preference is given to grants in which the focus is education of the public (as opposed to education of artists, curators, etc.). Support Grants have, most commonly, been in support of the following (listed by approximate frequency, in descending order):

  • Exhibitions

  • Catalogs

  • Brochures

  • Videos

  • Curatorial stipends

  • Residencies for visiting artists

Preference is given to applications relating to organizations, events, or projects concerned with contemporary glass. AACG must be credited for its support.

The AACG grants are not ordinarily made in response to applications requesting funding for:

  • Projects proposed directly by individual artists

  • Projects that have already been completed

  • Projects occurring outside of the United States

  • Annual operating expenses

  • Construction costs

  • Equipment purchase

  • Overhead

  • Fringe benefits

  • "For profit" organizations

  • Purchase of art works

Grants are not usually made for the full cost of the applicant's endeavor. Since the Grants program began in 1991, over $430,000 has been awarded.  A complete list of all previous grants awarded may be found on the "AACG Grants" page.

How to apply:

Requests for funding must be typed on the application form. You are encouraged to be brief. However, if additional space is needed, you may add a second sheet.

Twelve copies of the Grant Application and the attachments should be submitted; these will not be returned. Mail these applications to:

The Committee considers grant applications twice a year: during March/April and September/October. Thus, for consideration, applications must be submitted by March 1 or September 1, respectively.

Applicants who require confirmation of receipt should include a self-addressed post card for that purpose.  Notification of awards will be made as promptly as possible, and no later than May 1 for the first review cycle and November 1 for the second.
